The CLOMP running performance tracking wearable is now crowdfunding on Indiegogo. The device uses muscle oxygen saturation (SmO2) sensors, collecting data to calculate your lactate threshold. This indicates when your muscles are tired and provides insights into how your performance changes with time.
The CLOMP uses these statistics to create a personalized workout plan based on your fitness goal. There are 16 goal options, including 5-10K, half marathon and full marathon training regimes. At the end of each run, a workout score is generated, which you could use to compare performance with friends. You can also use the CLOMP to track your calorie burn, monitoring metrics like Fat Burn Ratio, Optimum Fat Burn Speed, and Fat Burn in grams. You can view insights from the CLOMP in an accompanying app, available for iOS and Android.
The company claims that it has used medical-grade fNIRS (Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy) technology in the CLOMP, used initially to study brain oxygenation. The CLOMP comes with a leg band, offered in six sizes, and ten patches, providing two ways to wear the device. You can now pledge US$259 to CLOMP’s Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to receive the device, assuming the project is successful. The gadget is expected to retail for US$420, meaning early customers save US$161. The company plans to ship the device in December with free shipping to many countries worldwide.
