The McLEAR RingPay 2 Silver and limited edition Stealth models have been unveiled for the UK market. The new color variants are identical to the current RingPay 2, with a thin band making the gadget lighter than its predecessor. The Silver model has a silver-colored waterproof and scratch-resistant zirconia ceramic outer, while the Stealth has a matte black finish.
The RingPay 2 allows you to make contactless payments from connected cards in your RingPay wallet, with spending logged in an accompanying app available for iOS and Android. You can also use the app to pause or lock your smart ring if lost, and earn cashback via RingPay Rewards, with the option to donate to charity via RingPay Giving. It is worth noting that the ring and associated app wallet expire after 36 months, with the option to buy a new ring at a discount or have the remaining funds transferred to another account. Plus, the RingPay is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
The NFC-based device does not require charging and is available in various sizes. You can now buy the McLEAR RingPay2 Silver and RingPay 2 Stealth models for £119.99; the original second-generation wearable, available in glossy black or white, retails for £99.99. The company notes that a limited number of units of the Stealth model are on offer, though it has not provided the exact volume.
