A few weeks have passed since Garmin last furnished the Fenix 6 and Fenix 6 Pro (curr. $369.99 - renewed on Amazon) with a new beta update. At the time, we remarked that the company was making steady, if uninspired, progress to delivering a fresh stable update after rolling out System Software 27.00 in May 2024.
Garmin has now replaced Beta Version 27.77 with Beta Version 28.00, which should have reached approximately 30% of beta testers at the time of publication. Please note that one can skip Garmin's phased rollout and request the new update manually by navigating through Menu, System and Software Update before tapping 'Check for Updates'.
Garmin stresses that Beta Version 28.00 is a Release Candidate build. As a result, it should represent what the company plans to issue as a new stable update. In other words, Beta Version 28.00 should also be the final build in this beta development cycle. This will only be true if Garmin observes no 'critical issues' though, such as unpatched bugs. As it stands, Garmin should soon bring the following changes to Enduro, Fenix 6, Fenix 6 Pro, Marq, Quatix 6 and Tactix Delta smartwatches running stable software:
- Added a legal disclaimer tip message to the storm alert feature.
- Fixed a UI issue on the flight paths setup feature for MARQ Aviator.
- Fixed an issue where elevation alert would constantly tone.
- Fixed an issued where notifications would sometimes be slow to pop up.
- Fixed an issue where loading certain courses would cause the device to shutdown.
- Miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements.
- CIQ bug fixes and improvements.
