Software development for the Fenix 6 and contemporary smartwatches like the Quatix 6 and Fenix 6 Pro (curr. $369.99 - renewed on Amazon) is definitely slowing down these days. Although Garmin has not admitted as much yet, the company has not delivered a stable update to Enduro, Fenix 6, Marq and Tactix Delta smartwatches since last May.
In summary, Stable Version 27.00 brought various new features and countless bug fixes to the table across a 36-line changelog. The same cannot currently be said for what is shaping up to be its replacement, which Garmin has been publicly beta testing from mid-December onwards. As it stands, Enduro, Fenix 6, Marq and Tactix Delta smartwatches are mainly in line for bug fixes, as well as a new legal disclaimer for Garmin's storm alert feature.
The arrival of Beta Version 27.77 does little to improve this. According to Garmin, the new update should have reached at least 30% of eligible smartwatches as part of a phased rollout. Alternatively, one can skip the phased rollout altogether and request the update mainly by heading through Menu, System, Software Update and then selecting 'Check for Updates'. Garmin only lists seven improvements from Stable Version 27.00 though, which are as follows:
- Fixed an issue where loading certain courses would cause the device to shut down.
- Fixed an issue where notifications would sometimes be slow to pop up.
- Fixed a UI issue on the flight paths setup feature for MARQ Aviator.
- Fixed an issue where the elevation alert would constantly tone.
- Fixed an issue where saving a Track activity would sometimes cause the device to shut down.
- Added a legal disclaimer tip message to the storm alert feature.
- Miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements.
