PandaFlashPro has offered fresh insights into the state of the Galaxy Z Fold7 and how it will differ from last year's Galaxy Z Fold6 (curr. $1,499.99 on Amazon). In recent weeks, there have been suggestions that Qualcomm will be offering a slower variant of the Snapdragon 8 Elite to OEMs building next-generation foldable smartphones.
To that end, Oppo and OnePlus will be the first to use the 'SM8750-3-AB' inside the Find N5 and Open 2, which will debut later this month. For reference, the SM8750-3-AB has one Oryon Gen 2 Performance CPU core fewer than its SM8750-AB and SM8750-AC counterparts, which Qualcomm advertises as the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, respectively.
According to Mishaal Rahman, dropping to five Performance cores will reduce excess heat loss while minimally impacting multi-core performance. Nonetheless, PandaFlashPro reports that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will launch later this year with the full-fat Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which ships with overclocked CPU and GPU cores compared to the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite. The former failed to outperform the latter in early CPU and GPU benchmarks, though.
Nonetheless, PandaFlashPro continues to report that Samsung will mitigate waste heat generated by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy with an improved vapour chamber cooling system. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is also expected to look more like the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition than its direct predecessor, and with pen support to boot.
