Various sources have provided new insights into the Oppo Find N5, which should reach many markets as a successor to the popular OnePlus Open (curr. $1,699.99 on Amazon). To recap, Oppo recently confirmed that the Find N5 will offer industry-leading water resistance and wireless charging, all in a housing that is about half as thick as an iPhone 16 Pro.
The Find N5 has been spotted on Geekbench utilising the SM8750-3-AB, Qualcomm's new but less powerful version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Oppo executive Zhou Yibao has now confirmed as much on Weibo, with extra emphasis added for the fact that it will be the first foldable with a 'a new generation' of the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
According to Yogesh Brar, Oppo's next foldable will serve as a showcase for the SM8750-3-AB, which loses a Performance core for the sake of improved power efficiency and thermals. The exact launch date of the Find N5 remains unknown for now, though, as is the equivalent of the OnePlus Open 2.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite (SM8750-3-AB) will be joined by 80 W wired charging, which has now been spotted in recent 3C certification documents. The same documents also highlight that the Find N5 will be offered with optional satellite connectivity, for which Oppo needed separate regulatory approval. It is unclear whether OnePlus will sell this second variant globally.
