OnePlus has released the new OxygenOS 15.0.0.500 for the OnePlus 12R. The new software version will be available in the IN/EU/GLO/NA regions. This update requires users to be already running OxygenOS 15 on their system. Those who are still on OxygenOS 14 can’t install the update directly. Despite not being overly extensive, the changelog does contain some notable enhancements.
The update introduces two new features: BeaconLink and Touch to Share. BeaconLink allows users to make calls without a cellular or Wi-Fi connection. Of course, both users need to have a compatible phone to take advantage of this direct link. According to official information, the technology has a range much shorter than 500 m (1,640 ft). Such a feature could be useful in crowded places with an overloaded mobile network, for example. In addition to OnePlus devices, BeaconLink is also available on selected Oppo phones.
The other new feature highlighted in the changelog is Touch to Share, which allows the OnePlus 12R to share files and photos with iOS devices. As expected, the company says that system stability has been improved for a better user experience. The January 2025 Android security patch has also been integrated to enhance protection against security threats.
