Alleged Galaxy S25 Edge specs reveal Samsung is making a huge mistake

Samsung isn't done with the Galaxy S25 series yet as it plans to unveil a fourth model that will be sold as the Galaxy S25 Edge. The upcoming phone, which was on display at the Galaxy Unpacked event in January, will be Samsung's thinnest smartphone in years. However, a leak of its key specifications reveal Samsung's making a huge mistake with one key feature.

Posted on X by Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), the Galaxy S25 Edge will reportedly have a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. That screen size puts it in between the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus in terms of size. The source says the phone will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite processor but doesn't specify if it is the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy or the one with fewer cores. Nevertheless, an earlier report by the same source revealed it will be the latter which is said to be designed for foldables and slim smartphones.

With respect to its camera configuration, the leak says the Galaxy S25 Edge will have a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide angle camera. Like its siblings, it will have an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and ship with OneUI 7 out of the box.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is said to pack a 3,900mAh battery which is just a little less than the 4,000mAh battery capacity of the much smaller Galaxy S25. Samsung will also be sticking to 25W fast wired charging according to the source, a decision considered to be a mistake. Considering its smaller battery capacity, equipping the phone with faster charging, is the more sensible decision. As usual, don't expect a charger in the box.

There's no info on the RAM and storage variants the phone will be available in, how much it will cost, and what colors it will be available in other than the silver it showcased at Galaxy Unpacked. There's also no news yet of the phone's release date.
