The Galaxy Z Fold7 is not anticipated to launch until the summer, presumably during Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event. Even so, fresh details about the foldable continue to surface online. To recap, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is reported to build on the design of the limited Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition rather than the Galaxy Z Fold6 (curr. $1,499 on Amazon).
According to new rumours, the Galaxy Z Fold7 will be no thinner than the Special Edition, which is 4.9 mm thick or 10.6 mm when closed. The adoption of a thinner and wider form factor should reduce crease visibility, as will an upgraded hinge. With that being said, it is unclear whether the Galaxy Z Fold7 will only be as good as the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in this regard.
Allegedly, the switch to a Special Edition design will coincide with the removal of a digitizer that handles conventional S Pen inputs. While this meant that the Special Edition launched without S Pen support, Samsung is claimed to be developing new S Pen hardware so that the Galaxy Z Fold7 would not miss out on this functionality. With mass production reputedly scheduled for May, we should begin seeing more concrete component leaks appearing from the spring onwards.
