Various sources have shared fresh details about the Galaxy Z Fold7, which is expected to line up this summer alongside the Galaxy Z Flip7 and perhaps two other Samsung foldables. While at least the Galaxy Z Flip FE and Galaxy G tri-fold will be entirely new devices, Samsung is slated to use the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition as the basis for the Galaxy Z Fold7.
For instance, the latter is said to carry across the former's 200 MP camera rather than returning to the 50 MP equivalent that Samsung uses in the Galaxy Z Fold6. Incidentally, we confirmed in December that Samsung equips the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition with the ISOCELL HP2 also found in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and now the Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $1,299.99 on Amazon).
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is expected to bring the former factor of its Special Edition predecessor to global audiences as well. If that were the case, then it would be the first regular Galaxy Z Fold featuring a 6.5-inch cover display with a foldable panel that spans 8-inches diagonally. This year's Galaxy Z Fold is not believed to be a complete re-run of last year's Special Edition, though.
Reportedly, the Galaxy Z Fold7 will integrate upgraded speakers, which were an area of regression in the Special Edition compared to the Galaxy Z Fold6. Samsung's next foldable is alleged to contain improved vapour chamber cooling too, presumably to account for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset. These changes are rumoured to be joined by 45 W wired charging support and unchanged launch pricing, albeit only with up to 12 GB of RAM.
