While a full-screen display with an under-display camera isn't new for Samsung, it's not present on any of the company's non-foldable phones. But that could change, as the Galaxy S26 Ultra is tipped to sport a hole-less screen.

Samsung already uses an under-display camera on the Z Fold series, which gives the inner display of the recently released foldable phones a full-screen display. However, the company has yet to bring this tech on its non-foldable devices, and the successor of the Galaxy S25 Ultra could be the first.

This info comes from X user @kro_roe, who has been actively sharing Samsung leaks for a good while now. The leaker shares that in the Galaxy S26 Ultra display prototype, there are no holes, and the tipster adds that this means that the 2026 flagship could feature an under-display camera.

Even if Samsung does integrate an under-display camera on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, it's not clear how much better it would be than what's already present in the Z Fold line. At its current state, this camera tech can't quite match the regular punch-hole selfie setups. Pictures tend to come out a bit washed out and blurry, and while software tweaks do help in this regard, the quality is still sub-par.

But again, the leak does state that the hole-free display for the Galaxy S26 Ultra is currently in the prototype stage. In general, very early prototypes of phones often have many features that don't end up on the retail device. So, if Samsung finds that the current under-display tech isn't worth it, it could get scraped during the testing phase.

The company is also rumored to pack the Galaxy S26 series with Silicon Carbide (SiC) batteries, which could give the upcoming phones larger battery capacities than their predecessors. Samsung's 2026 flagship smartphones are also tipped to come with brighter, more efficient displays.
