Xiaomi is expected to launch its main flagship for the year, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, shortly. The successor to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has been rumored to make its debut towards the end of the month or early next month, and a new leak has now revealed camera hardware details of the Galaxy S25 Ultra alternative.
As shared by leaker Yogesh Brar, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will come equipped with the 50 MP type 1-inch LYT900 as its main camera. That's the same sensor on last year's Xiaomi 14 Ultra, but word on the grapevine claims the Xiaomi 15 Ultra could sport an improved version.
Zoom is where the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is geared to see its biggest improvement. The phone is set to feature better zoom hardware than its peers, thanks to a new 200 MP sensor. While the IMX858 makes another appearance beneath a 3x zoom lens, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is set to replace its long-range zoom hardware. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra paired a 5x lens with the 1/2.51-inch IMX858 but the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is tipped to pair up a 4.3x lens with the much larger 1/1.4-inch 200 MP HP9 sensor.
That change should, in theory, result in significantly improved long-range zoom performance. Unfortunately, it appears the final snapper pays the price for that, with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra touted to trade in the 1/2.51-inch IMX858 ultra-wide angle camera on its predecessor for the smaller 1/2.76-inch JN5 sensor.
