Auto-makers typically don't have their very own flagship Android smartphone with which to make content about its flagship car. There is an exception to that rule, though, and it is Xiaomi, an OEM that has chosen the SU7 Ultra as a subject for its upcoming smartphone counterpart.
Xiaomi asserts that the 4-door sedan has just set its latest lap record with a time of 2:09.994 minutes around Shanghai's International Circuit: a claim backed up with a slick video apparently recorded on the 15 Ultra.
The OEM's CEO Lei Jun backs the handset to unleash the Android market's most powerful telephoto performance, even in low light, on its global launch now scheduled to coincide with MWC 2025.
It is to be delivered using dual periscope zoom lenses: 1 with a resolution of 50MP and another of a class-leading 200MP spec, according to the well-connected leaker Digital Chat Station.
They are to have equivalent lengths of 70 millimeters (mm) and 100mm respectively, and to have different zoom values of 3X and 4.3X respectively.
The 50MP lens is projected to have a focal length of f/1.8, compared to f/2.6 in the 200MP shooter. Combined, they are now backed to capture convincing detail in low light, even if the subject is being actively doused in raindrops at the time.
