Xiaomi did not expect to attract even 10,000 reservations for the Ultra version of its SU7 on its launch, only to exceed that number into the third day of its pre-orders.
The OEM unleashed the high-performance EV at 814,900 yuan (~$112,649) - only to release it at a starting price of 529,900 yuan (~$73,252) in February 2025. Then again, the new price is for the car's standard configuration, with "Racing Package" (and "Nürburgring Nordschleife Limited Edition") options as extras.
However, even the standard Ultra has its triple-motor, 1,526 horsepower system and extra-large carbon ceramic brakes.
Now, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has reportedly begun to drop hints that the OEM might produce an even more expensive car in the future, possibly in addition to the upcoming YU7 SUV.
It is projected to be joined by other Xiaomi vehicles in the future, some of which might be hybrid rather than purely battery-powered. In the meantime, Lei Jun concedes that the success of the SU7 Ultra has already sped beyond his wildest dreams.
