Xiaomi first-gen hybrid car tipped to launch after inaugural electric vehicle
Popular consumer tech brand Xiaomi is on track to launch its first ever automobile in 2024. Furthermore, the OEM is now believed to be hard at work at a follow-up to the so-called SU7, said to come in the form of two even newer cars. One is though to be the same kind of electric vehicle (EV) as its predecessor, whereas the other is not.
The long-awaited Xiaomi Car is indeed on the road to launch soon, according to the latest reports. However, rather than take a break after the milestone of official certification in its native China for this world-first SU7 series, the OEM is allegedly acting on plans for its successors.
These new reports involve the next 2 Xiaomi vehicles, each with its own rumored code-name. The SU7 was known as Modena; however, one of its most immediate heirs apparently goes by Lemang, while the other is possibly dubbed Kunlun.
The first is thought to be a battery EV (BEV) just like the SU7; however, the second is another matter. It seems Xiaomi's putative Huawei-baiting prototype might be a hybrid rather than an extended-range EV (E-REV) as previously thought. Either way, it is possible that Xiaomi is taking a more diversified approach to its new personal transport category than it might initially have let on.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
