Samsung is thought to be working on a budget-friendly foldable phone, the Galaxy Flip FE. It's expected to be more affordable than the Z Flip 6 but look exactly the same. Now, a new leak suggests that it will be using the same display as the Flip 6 as well.
Previously, this affordable foldable phone was rumored to feature the same screen as the Z Flip 7. However, given that the Flip FE will be a budget-friendly offering, using the display of the current-gen foldable would make more sense, as it would lead to lower manufacturing costs.
This information comes from display analyst Ross Young, and if this report stands correct, the Galaxy Z Flip FE will sport a 6.7-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED inner screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 3.4-inch cover display with a 60 Hz refresh rate.
There are no new reports about the other specs of the phone, but another cost-cutting measure that Samsung is expected to take is in terms of the SoC. While the Z Flip 6 was powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the FE could pack the Exynos 2400. This would make the Z Flip FE offer the same level of performance as the Exynos-powered Galaxy S24 series phones.
As for the launch, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE is expected to launch at the end of the second quarter of 2025. It could launch at around $700 (256 GB 2024 Razr+ curr. $799.99 on Amazon).
