The 2024 Steam Awards have been revealed. Black Myth: Wukong, which was widely believed to be snubbed at The Game Awards, made its comeback here by winning the coveted Game of the Year title.

Valve has announced the winners of the 2024 Steam Awards. Voting started on December 17, and now, a game that was widely believed to be snubbed at The Game Awards finally got the recognition it deserved, that too in multiple categories. Black Myth: Wukong won the coveted Game of the Year Award, Outstanding Story-Rich Game Award and the Best Game You Suck At Award.

Interestingly, Balatro and Metaphor: ReFantazio's The Game Awards success didn't carry over to Steam. Both games, even though nominated in various categories, lost out to other more mainstream competition. For some odd reason, God of War Ragnarök won the Best Game on Steam Deck Award despite its colossal size and mandatory PlayStation Network ID linking requirements. The former PlayStation exclusive even beat Hades 2, a game that is much easier on the Deck.

To nobody's surprise, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree won the Labour of Love Award and Metro Awakening the VR Game of the Year Award. As a game-sized DLC expansion, competitors such as No Man's Sky, DOTA 2 and Stardew Valley stood little chance, even though they've all aged spectacularly since launch. Even though it was one of the most well-liked games of 2024 (except for the mandatory PSN controversy), Helldivers 2 failed to make a splash in any category.
