Dell has now started selling the Area-51 gaming desktop under its Alienware division. To recap, the company re-introduced the Area-51 last month alongside laptop counterparts at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. Also, Dell confirmed various details about an Alienware AW2725DF (curr. $749.99 on Amazon) successor, details of which we have covered separately.
As expected, the Alienware Area-51 gaming desktop only comes with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU for now. The latter is slated to be supplanted by GeForce RTX 5090 SKUs later this year, although it remains to be seen exactly when at this stage. For reference, stock levels of RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 cards may not improve until the end of February or next month at the earliest.
The new Area-51 starts at $4,449.99, which also throws a 2 TB of storage, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and a Windows 11 Home licence into the mix. Alternatively, the gaming desktop can be picked up with a 4 TB SSD and 64 GB of RAM for a $600 surcharge. Customisation options are few and far between at launch too, despite the suggestion that there would be up to 8 TB of storage and cheaper processor options during CES 2025.
