Anbernic has not released any gaming handhelds this year, having introduced at least one new model monthly throughout 2024. Instead, the company decided to update the RG34XX with a Glacier option (curr. $89.99 on Amazon), which veers from the hue of Game Boy Advance (GBA) of the same name.
Last week, rumours surfaced about the possibility of Anbernic expanding the RG34XX with an RG34XX SP. The RG34XX SP may be one of a few new clamshell gaming handhelds to arrive this year though, including a Miyoo Flip V2 and a Retroid Pocket Flip 2. Anbernic may return to the RG34XX again before offering up an entirely new device.
According to YouTuber Retro Gaming With Deadfred, Anbernic is developing another set of translucent colour options for its Game Boy Advance lookalike. As Retro Handhelds notes, one of the two resembles Nintendo's Fuschia refresh of the GBA in April 2001. By contrast, the turquoise variant does not follow the style of an official Nintendo release. Instead, it appears to draw inspiration from a glow-in-the-dark custom shell. There is no suggestion that Anbernic's version will also be capable of glowing in the dark, though.
