Samsung foldables have been increasingly perceived as iterative rather than innovative by many observers in recent years, which may very well change this year with a completely new product. After Huawei become the leading innovator in the foldable sector last year with its Mate XT, Samsung is expected to counter with its first tri-foldable this year (probably Q3, but a delay until Q1/2026 is possible), albeit in a slightly different format.
Instead of an S-shaped foldable tablet like the Huawei Mate XT or the Samsung Flex S prototypes, a model of the Flex G prototypes (see photo above) that has already been shown several times at trade fairs is likely to find its way into mass production. The "G" will reportedly remain in the final name and denote a new series of Samsung phones, as a report by yeux1122 on the Naver forum suggests, which refers to industry sources such as DSCC analyst Ross Young.
If the indications are correct, Samsung will launch the first multi-foldable under the name Galaxy G Fold, possibly as Galaxy G Fold1. In contrast to the Huawei Mate XT, both side panels fold into each other, which has the advantage that the flexible AMOLED screen is always well protected when folded up and carried around. In return, the Galaxy G Fold will be slightly thicker, although the weight is not expected to increase. A new 9.96-inch AMOLED panel is also set to make its debut in the Galaxy G Fold, but at 6.54 inches (166.1 mm) it is likely to be slightly taller than the 162.8 mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
