Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition camera sensors detailed with three major changes from Galaxy Z Fold6
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has been around for almost two months at this point, having been presented on October 21 in South Korea. While the Special Edition contains various upgrades, it seemed that Samsung had brought all bar one of the Galaxy Z Fold6's cameras across.
However, our initial testing revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition appears to contain three new cameras, not one. As expected, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition carries over the ISOCELL 3K1 from the Galaxy Z Fold6 as its telephoto camera (curr. $1,149.99 - renewed on Amazon). Moreover, the Special Edition utilises the same ISOCELL 3K1 as its ultra-wide-angle camera. Samsung has enabled macro mode on this camera though, as Tech with Benefits noticed in their recent video.

Meanwhile, the ISOCELL HP2 serves as the Special Edition's primary camera, which can also be found across the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Ultra. As such, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has a 1/1.3-inch optical format at its disposal, as well as 0.6 µm pixels but an f/1.8 aperture.
Furthermore, Samsung is using the Sony IMX564 and IMX596 as the Special Edition's selfie cameras rather than the IMX374 or IMX471 found in the Galaxy Z Fold6. Surprisingly, it seems that these could be hardware downgrades, given that they have smaller pixels and optical formats than those provided in the Galaxy Z Fold6. Thus, the ISOCELL HP2 may well be the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition's only true hardware upgrade.
