Transsion Holdings’ sub-brand Tecno has expanded its foldable smartphone portfolio by launching two new second-generation foldable smartphones, the Tecno Phantom V Fold2 and the Phantom V Flip2. The Phantom V Fold2 brings significant upgrades over its direct predecessor in terms of design, camera sensors, and battery.
The second-gen book-style foldable smartphone is also slimmer than before, at 5.52 mm (0.21 inch) thick when unfolded and 11.78 mm (0.46 inch) when folded. For context, the first-generation foldable measures 6.9 mm (0.27 inch) when unfolded and 14.2 mm (0.55 inch) when folded. It features a triple rear camera array consisting of a 50 MP primary camera, a 50 MP ultrawide shooter, and a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom. It runs Android 14-based HiOS 14 out of the box. The company promises two major OS updates (Android 15 and 16) and three years of security updates for the Phantom V Fold2 smartphone.
The 5G-enabled foldable smartphone features a 7.85-inch 2K+ LTPO AMOLED main display and a 6.42-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED cover display. Both panels support a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The new Tecno fold phone is 50 grams lighter than before and now weighs 249 grams (0.54 lbs). It packs a 5,750 mAh battery with 70 W wired and 15 W wireless charging support.
Alongside the Phantom V Fold2, Tecno also launched the clamshell-style Phantom V Flip2 foldable smartphone. The Phantom V Flip2 has a 6.9-inch FHD+ 120 Hz LTPO AMOLED main display and a 3.64-inch AMOLED cover display with a resolution of 1,056 x 1,066 pixels. It has a dual camera setup at the back. The main camera is a 50 MP, coupled with a 50 MP ultrawide-angle camera. On the front, it has a 32 MP camera for capturing selfies and video chats.
The Phantom V Flip2 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The device is fueled by a 4,720 mAh battery with 70 W wired charging support. Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging support.
The Tecno Phantom V Fold2 starts at INR 79,999 (~$945/€890), and the Phantom V Flip2 is priced at INR 34,999 (~$415/€390). The Phantom V Fold2 comes in Karst Green and Rippling Blue color options, while the V Flip2 comes in Moondust Grey and Travertine Green colorways.
