Making a device called a G Fold is not necessarily exclusive to Samsung, as Tecno reportedly intends to prove later in July 2025.
That is when the company reportedly intends to launch its latest Phantom Ultimate-series device, a tri-folding smartphone that is the first of its line to have a cover display.
According to its latest leaks, some courtesy of the famous tipster Ice Universe, it is located on the right-most of the smartphone's 3 segments, linked by hinges that allow the device to fold in such a way that the secondary screen is covered when it is closed.
By contrast, the latest renders suggest that Samsung plans to put its G Fold cover display on the middle segment, which means it will be exposed all the time regardless of what mode that smartphone is in.
Then again, the Phantom Ultimate G Fold will, like the last Tecno tri-fold, be a mere concept on its launch, whereas Samsung is now backed to actually bring its Huawei Mate XT rival to market later in 2025.
It might become the OEM's most expensive foldable smartphone to date, surpassing even the new Galaxy Z Fold7 that is now available for $1,999.99 on Amazon.
