Samsung’s rumored Galaxy G Fold may only launch in China and South Korea in limited quantities. It is said to cost over $3,000, making it the most expensive Samsung phone to date.

It is well known that Samsung has a tri-fold phone in the pipeline and of course, it will be an expensive offering. Now, a new leak hints at exactly how expensive, and exclusive, the rumored phone will be. Unofficially dubbed the Galaxy G Fold, this phone is said to cost over $3,000 and have limited availability in only two markets, at least at launch. As per recent reports, it is said to be unveiled later this year.

At a recent Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung confirmed the existence of a tri-fold (or bi-fold considering the number of folds) phone in a move to 'strengthen its foldable lineup' for the second half of 2025. This phone is being called the Galaxy G Fold, though Samsung does not have a name for it, and is said to be available only in China and the company’s home country, South Korea. At least that will be the case at launch later this year.

A new leak from known tipster Yogesh Brar on X states that it will be the most expensive phone that Samsung offers, costing between $3,000 and $3,500. For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold6 (Buy on Amazon) in South Korea starts at just over $1,600 (converted from South Korean Won) and goes up to just over $1,950 for the 1 TB model. This would put the Galaxy G Fold at twice the starting price of the Galaxy Z Fold6. Considering the price, it’s not surprising that Samsung will have only limited quantities of this phone.

Speaking of availability, Brar mentions that it will arrive in Q3 this year which means July to September. This falls in line with Samsung's H2 2025 timeline.

The Galaxy G Fold, while the first tri-fold from Samsung, will not be the first tri-fold that is commercially available. The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design went global earlier this year in February after its initial launch in China at CNY 19,999 (around $2,760). However, its European pricing was even higher at €3,499 (around $3,948) but smartphones are typically more expensive for the European market compared to the US. Regardless, this first generation of tri-fold phones is proving to be incredibly expensive and catering to a small audience.
