Samsung is said to be working on an FE or Fan Edition version of the Galaxy Z Flip, as well as a tri-fold phone, both of which were expected to be announced at the company’s Unpacked event in the summer. However, it now looks like the two devices will be pushed to Q4 of this year, likely to prioritize production of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
Without any reasoning given, Korean publication The Bell mentions (machine translated) that the Galaxy Z Flip FE, as well as the tri-fold phone, are now expected in the fourth quarter of this year, which is in line with rumors from last month. The report does mention that the production of panels for the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 kicked off this month, April, and while this isn’t concrete reasoning for the delay, it suggests that Samsung wants to prioritize production for the flagship models and then shift focus to the FE and the tri-fold. The Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are expected to be unveiled at the Unpacked event which will likely take place in July.
There have been rumors surrounding the Galaxy Z Flip FE suggesting that the international version will carry the Exynos 2400e SoC that is present in the Galaxy S24 FE. It was originally reported that the Z Flip FE could come with the Exynos 2500 but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. It is possible that Samsung is facing the same challenges it did with incorporating the Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy S25 series, considering the significantly slower performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.
Samsung has not shared any details about Galaxy Z Flip SE or the tri-fold phone, but has seemingly confirmed their existence. A software update for a device labeled “SM-F761” was spotted by a tipster in February and this is suspected to be the Z Flip SE. On the other hand, the tri-fold Samsung phone was part of its roadmap since it was briefly shown during the first Unpacked event this year in January.
