Recent leaks have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series may come with Qi2, offering magnetic wireless charging similar to Apple’s MagSafe. However, leaker @chunvn8888 reports that there will be no magnets in place.

While Qi2 has been around for a good amount of time, there haven't been many smartphones that take advantage of it. Recent leaks have suggested that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series may come with Qi2 support, offering magnetic wireless charging similar to Apple's MagSafe.

However, @chunvn8888 reports that there won't be proper Qi2 support. The leaker explained that there would be Qi2 wireless charging support but without the magnets. This would make the Qi2 certification pretty much pointless, as one of the big upgrades that this standard brought was magnetic charging.

@chunvn8888 reports that Samsung Galaxy S25 users can still get magnetic wireless charging, but through first-party or third-party protective cases with magnets installed. This is something that's already available on many last-gen smartphones. As a matter of fact, you can get the same case-enabled feature on the Galaxy S24 series (256GB FE curr. $677.48 on Amazon).

On the bright side, @chunvn8888 says that the Qi2 wireless charging support on the new series should lead to speeds up to 25W. Looking back, the Galaxy S24 Ultra maxed out at 15W, so, according to the report, the upcoming lineup will see an upgrade in this regard. As for why Samsung might've skipped using magnets, it's likely because of the S Pen in the S25 Ultra.

As we covered earlier, the S Pen of the Galaxy S24 Ultra tends to malfunction when you have a magnetic case installed on the phone. Samsung may not have found a solution to this, which is why the upcoming series is missing out on the built-in magnetic charging feature.
