Similarly to the Galaxy S24 launch, the topic of AI in the form of Galaxy AI is once again likely to be the main focus of the S25, with Samsung apparently planning to bring an old acquaintance back into the spotlight. The rather hapless voice assistant Bixby is getting an upgrade and will be made available as an alternative to ChatGPT and Gemini on the next Galaxy flagships, according to a report from South Korean information technology newspaper ETNews.
As is so often the case, the report is based on information from industry circles and also reveals a few more details. Thanks to the integration of large language models (LLMs), Bixby will be able to communicate interactively with users of the Galaxy S25 series in a similar way to the aforementioned assistants from OpenAI and Google, helping them with navigational tasks or choosing the right clothes for the day, for example. Thanks to integration with installed apps (mostly those from Samsung), other information from the calendar, browser search results or display content can also be included in the answers.
According to the report, Bixby LLM integration was actually already planned for the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 foldables (available here at Amazon), but there were apparently delays. The two Special Edition foldables available exclusively in China and South Korea are also expected to support the improved Bixby, and the report also mentions the Galaxy S10 tablets. According to Ice Universe (see X post below), Samsung's upgraded voice assistant will be "the biggest selling point" of the Galaxy S25 series, presumably a slightly sarcastic comment from the well-known leaker on the subject.
