Xiaomi 15 Ultra: Reliable tipster shares more details on last-minute hardware change

There have been a good number of leaks surrounding the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, with the earlier ones suggesting that the camera flagship will fall short in terms of battery capacity. More specifically, previous reports have suggested that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite phone could come with a 5,700 mAh battery.

That would be quite disappointing, as the Xiaomi 15 Pro has a larger battery capacity, at 6,100 mAh. The good news is that Digital Chat Station, a reliable Weibo tipster, recently shared that the company has made some last-minute changes to the Ultra model to address the shortcomings of the engineering sample.

However, in that specific report, Digital Chat Station didn't share any details on the expected battery capacity after the change. Well, that's what the tipster has now shed light on. According to the latest report, Xiaomi 15 Ultra will come with a 6,000 mAh battery.

While this battery capacity may not make the Xiaomi 15 Ultra take the spotlight for offering better runtimes than some of the other phones, it would be a proper upgrade from the predecessor. To fill you in, the last-gen camera flagship sports a 5,000 mAh battery, lower than the standard Xiaomi 15.

Digital Chat Station adds that the wired charging speed is still the same as the predecessor, capped at 90 watts (140 W Anker 737 power bank curr. $79.99 on Amazon). The tipster also reports that the other specs of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra have not changed from what he previously shared. There's no mention of the possible launch timeline in the latest report, but the camera flagship is expected to make a global debut at the MWC 2025 event, with the Chinese launch reportedly set for February.
