The Gigabyte Aorus 17X (2023) is a gaming laptop built for people who need speed. As such, the notebook packs up to an RTX 4090 laptop GPU, a Core i9-13980HX CPU, and a 240 HZ QHD display. However, folks who don’t want to spend north of $2,000 should be better served with a RTX 4080 configuration of the notebook that is now on sale.
Equipped with an RTX 4080 laptop GPU and a Core i9-13980HX CPU, the Gigabyte Aorus 17X 2023 price has now dropped to only $1,739.99 on Woot. The discounted price represents savings of $760 over the laptop’s full retail price of $2,499 (linked at the end).
However, it is important to note that Woot doesn’t offer full warranties on laptops. So, the Aorus 17X on sale only has a 90-day Woot warranty. If you want a full manufacturer warrant, you’d have to shell out considerably more, as Amazon has the laptop for $2,499.
Gigabyte Aorus 17X (2023) specs
The Gigabyte Aorus 17X on sale features a 24-core Core i9-13980HX, a 12 GB RTX 4080 laptop GPU with a max 175 W TGP, 16 GB of DDR5 memory, and 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage. Both the RAM and the storage can be expanded thanks to two SO-DIMM and M.2 slots.
Display-wise, we are looking at a 17.3-inch IPS QHD panel with a 240 Hz refresh rate and a target of 100% DCI-P3 coverage. The laptop also packs an FHD webcam, a per-key RGB keyboard, a 99 Wh battery, and Wi-Fi 6E.
Additionally, the Aorus 17X has a healthy port selection distributed along the sides and the rear of the device. We have:
- One Thunderbolt 4 connector
- Three Type-A ports
- One HDMI 2.1 out
- A mini-DisplayPort
- One 3.5 mm jack
Sadly, despite having enough power under the hood and an advertised full DCI-P3 display, Gigabyte has left out an SD card reader. So, creators who want to take advantage of the Aorus 17X should get a cheap SD card dongle from Amazon.
Gigabyte Aorus 17X is powerful and slim
With a slim chassis that weighs less than 3 kg (6.61 lbs), the Gigabyte Aorus 17X is a 17-inch gaming laptop that carries some serious firepower in a relatively easy-to-carry body. Our review unit which was equipped with an RTX 4090 and a Core i9-13900HX managed to snag a “good” rating of 86% from us. The rating was mainly due to the notebook’s gaming potential, 240 Hz screen, good battery life, quiet operation, and upgradable nature.
Starting with the gaming performance, the RTX 4080 laptop GPU and the flagship Core i9-13980HX should ensure that AAA games run well at the notebook’s native resolution. Our testing of the RTX 4080 laptop card shows that the board can play some of the most demanding titles like Star Wars Outlaws and Stalker 2 at above 40 FPS at QHD/ultra. Reducing the graphics down a notch and/or using DLSS should push these games to above 60 FPS.
For multiplayer gamers, the Aorus 17X and its 240 Hz display will get the job done quite nicely, as the RTX 4080 can push games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at above 100 FPS at FHD.
Moreover, on days when you are not gaming, the Aorus 17X can net you more than 6 hours of runtime performing routine tasks.
Long story short, the Gigabyte Aorus 17X on sale is a speedy gaming machine that should be a good fit for folks who want QHD gaming power at a reasonable price.
