High-end gamers don't necessarily have to wait for the highly anticipated launch of the first RTX 5090 laptops. Since these machines will cost well over $3,000 until significant discounts arrive, RTX 4090-equipped notebooks such as the Gigabyte Aorus 17X will offer a better bang for the buck.
That statement is more true than ever, because the Aorus 17X has just received one of it's steepest price cuts to date. To be more exact, the Gigabyte gaming laptop is now on sale for just $2,409 including free shipping at Woot, which is a reputable online retailer owned by Amazon. This sale offers a discount of 29% or almost $1,000 compared to the regular list price of $3,399.
The 17-inch notebook also sports the Intel Core i9-13980HX, which is a Raptor Lake processor with 24 cores, 32 threads and a boost clock speed of up to 5.6GHz for the performance cores. As already indicated above, the Aorus 17X is further powered by the fast Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card with 16GB VRAM. This SKU includes 32GB DDR5-5600 RAM and a 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.
Although the RTX 4090 is enough to render many modern games at 4K resolution and maxed-out settings, Gigabyte has opted for an IPS display with 2560x1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 240Hz and 100% DCI-P3 colors. Gamers should also note that this laptop weighs over 6 lbs and is more of a desktop replacement rather than a portable gaming machine. All things considered, the Aorus 17X might be worth a look for enthusiasts who don't want to overspend on one of the upcoming and just marginally faster Blackwell-powered notebooks.
