The Lenovo Legion 5i Gen 9 (2024) gaming laptop is now enjoying a massive $500 discount on the list price at B&H Photo. The laptop is a highly rated mid-range machine featuring an RTX 4060 laptop GPU and a high-end 24-core Core i9-14900HX mobile CPU. Other notable specs include 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

We reported earlier this month that the Lenovo Legion 5i Gen 9 gaming laptop with an RTX 4060 GPU, a Core i7-13650HX CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and a 165 Hz display was retailing for less than $900 at Walmart. The price was excellent since the Legion 5i is a highly rated gaming machine.

If you missed the Walmart sale or were waiting for a better version of the Legion 5i, you are in luck, as you can now buy a more powerful Lenovo Legion 5i Gen 9 SKU for only $1,099.99 at B&H Photo. The SKU currently on sale features a flagship Core i9-14900HX CPU, an RTX 4060 laptop GPU, 32 GB of expandable RAM, 1 TB of upgradable storage, and a 240 Hz IPS QHD display (linked at the end).

So, for only $220.99 more than the Walmart deal, the latest Legion 5i deal from B&H Photo gets you a machine with double the RAM, a higher-refresh 240 Hz display, and a CPU that is more than 15% faster.

Lenovo Legion 5i (2024) is a worthy mid-range contendor

The Lenovo Legion 5i Gen 9 nails the aspects that matter the most in a gaming laptop. From the 240 Hz display to the RTX 4060’s gaming prowess and the cooling solution, you’d have to look closely to find a major flaw in the Legion 5i.

For instance, the RTX 4060 laptop GPU and the flagship Core i9-14900HX CPU will keep things speedy in both GPU and CPU-bound tasks. Gamers can, therefore, expect the Legion 5i to play the latest AAA titles at FHD without a hitch.

Additionally, Lenovo has done a good job dissipating heat with our review unit managing to remain fairly cool under load.

Moving to the display, the 16-inch 204 Hz 1600p IPS panel on the Legion 5i (2024) impressed us with its accurate colors, more than 500 nits of max brightness, a decent contrast ratio of above 1,500:1, and full sRGB coverage. The display also supports Nvidia G-Sync, allowing users to enjoy tear-free gaming.

The only minor disadvantages suffered by the Legion 5i is that it gets loud under load and lacks a Thunderbolt 4 port. These drawbacks can be dealt with using quality gaming headphones and a Type-C dongle if you need additional ports.

Long story short, the Lenovo Legion 5i Gen 9 is an outstanding mid-range gamer with very few compromises and is worth your consideration.
