When it comes to gaming laptops, the market is filled to the brim with options vying for attention. However, for the "creator by day, gamer by night" crowd, the list of easy-to-recommend laptops shrinks considerably. The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i, however, easily makes the cut and is now up for grabs on B&H Photo Video's official online store for a mouth-watering 35% discount on its MSRP, bringing its price down to $1,999.

Under the hood, the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 boasts powerful internals, including a 24-core Core i9-14900HX CPU and a 175 W RTX 4080 Laptop GPU. The system also comes with 32 GB of DDR5-5600 memory and 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. The performance is extremely promising, with the CPU scoring above-average points in synthetic tests, and the story with GPU performance is much the same. In simpler terms, the laptop's overall performance leaves little to be desired. The RTX 4090 Laptop variant, also on sale, is available for an additional $400.

Unlike the majority of high-end gaming laptops, the Legion Pro 7i features a rather classy design that also works perfectly well in boardroom scenarios. However, the fan noise in the highest-performance mode is a tad displeasing. The build quality is decent, and the same goes for the port selection. The beautiful 16-inch QHD display boasts a 240 Hz refresh rate, with an impressive 98.5% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Being an IPS panel, however, contrast levels are not nearly as good, although the display does manage to get plenty bright.

At the end of the day, the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 is an excellent option for gamers and creative professionals who can pay the price it commands and live with the downsides of its IPS panel and somewhat noisy nature when tasked with strenuous workloads.
