What appears at first to be a simple, laid-back life simulation quickly reveals itself as a psychological horror game and players are loving it. According to SteamDB, the game has claimed the top spot in two categories and amassed over 7,400 reviews within days of its release, 98% of which are positive. For those unsure, a demo is available to try.

Who hasn’t dreamed of being pulled into their favorite game? This is exactly what happens in MiSide. The protagonist is suddenly transported into the game world and encounters Mita, its charming mascot. What starts as a dream come true soon takes a dark and unsettling turn.

Mita, who has seized control of the virtual world, claims she brought the player to her out of loneliness. But can she really be trusted? The story is non-linear, allowing players to either embrace an idyllic life simulation or dig deeper to uncover the game world’s dark secrets. The gameplay unfolds from a first-person perspective.

Very good ratings

MiSide was developed by AIHASTO and published by IndieArk and Shochiku. The developer isn’t entirely new to success, its survival game ECO HOLE (released in October 2021) earned a 93% positive rating, though from only around 100 reviews. With MiSide, the team has achieved far greater recognition. Released on December 11, 2024, the game has already garnered over 7,400 reviews, 98% of them positive. According to SteamDB, it ranked first in the "Trending Games" and "Hot Releases" categories at the time of research.

MiSide is available on Steam for a regular price of around $14.80. Until December 24, players can grab it at a 10% discount for $13.50. Those who want to try it first can check out the free demo.

A must for Doki Doki fans

If you enjoyed Doki Doki Literature Club (DDLC), MiSide is right up your alley. Both games share a similar concept, luring players in with a charming anime aesthetic before diving into dark psychological horror. One notable parallel is Mita, who bears a striking resemblance to Monika from DDLC, both are manipulative figures who seize control of the game.
