According to trusted leaker Billbil-kun, GOG will offer the adventure game Silence: The Whispered World 2 for free starting December 19. The game follows siblings Noah and Renie, who find themselves in the mysterious world of Silence after Noah shields his younger sister from the horrors of war. This realm, suspended between life and death, is filled with enchanting creatures, stunning landscapes and lurking dangers.
The World of Silence is shrouded in a looming darkness that threatens to consume all life in this realm between worlds. As a point-and-click adventure, the game emphasizes exploration and puzzle-solving. Players can look forward to stunning hand-drawn visuals and a heartfelt story that delves into themes of loss and hope.
Short playing time but mostly positive reviews
Developed by Daedalic Entertainment, Silence launched in November 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The point-and-click adventure has received mostly positive feedback on Steam, boasting an 83% approval rate from 1,600 reviews. Its Metacritic ratings are slightly lower, with a Metascore of 75 and a user score of 7.5, likely due to its short storyline and relatively low difficulty. According to GOG, completing the main story and all side quests takes around 11 hours.
The game is usually priced at around $22, but according to Bilbil-kun, players can grab it for free on GOG from December 19 to 22. At the time of writing, the offer wasn’t live yet, but if the leak proves accurate, it should become available later today.
By the way: If you haven’t played the first game yet, now is a great time to catch up. While Silence: The Whispered World 2 tells a standalone story, it builds on events from its predecessor. The special edition of The Whispered World is currently 90% off on GOG, making it available for just $2 instead of the usual 22.
Update (20.12.2024): Leak has not been confirmed
Bilbil-kun has revised his statements in a post on X. Instead of Silence, GOG is now giving away the crazy action RPG Chicken Assasin Reloaded, which puts players in the role of the “meanest rooster on the block”.
