Epic Games Store: New leak reveals next free game for Holiday Sale 2024's giveaway

A new leak suggests that Vampire Survivors, the wildly popular rogue-lite action game, will be available for free on the Epic Games Store from December 19 to December 20, 2024. This is part of the store’s ongoing Holiday Sale, which features 16 mystery titles given away over consecutive days (you can view the complete schedule here). The leaker is well-known for covering free games and similar deals over on YouTube. As covered previously, the first game in the giveaway was The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, which is still available to claim at the time of writing.

Vampire Survivors, developed by poncle (based in London, UK), is a minimalist bullet-hell roguelike where players have to go up against endless waves of enemies while upgrading their abilities. The game has an addictive gameplay loop, pixel art visuals, and dynamic progression - all of which have earned it a lot of praise since its release.

Vampire Survivors holds a Metacritic score of 86, which is another sign of its strong reception among critics. Reviewers have constantly praised its simplicity, deep gameplay mechanics, and most of all - value for its price. Players, too, have embraced its fast-paced, rewarding gameplay, making it one of the most beloved indie games of recent years. Also, the game has a 4-player local co-op mode.

The game is super-lightweight and will run on most PCs. Its minimum system requirements are straightforward: Windows 7 or later, Intel Pentium 4 processor, 1 GB RAM, integrated GPU or DirectX 9 compatibility, and merely 250 MB of storage space.

Vampire Survivors is usually priced at $4.99 on platforms like Steam (where the game has 'overwhelmingly positive' reviews across 231,568 ratings). While affordable, this limited-time free offer would give even more players a chance to experience the game without spending a dime. 

If the leak proves accurate, Vampire Survivors will be free to claim for 24 hours starting December 19, 2024. To grab the game, players will need to log in to their Epic Games Store account, head to the Free Games section, and click “Get” to add it permanently to their library.
