The volume of leaks about Nintendo's next console continue to mount, particularly in the last week or so. Now, Deck Wizard has shared what they describe as 'fresh images' of the long-rumoured console, which is still being referred to as the Switch 2 for now.
Reportedly, the Switch 2 measures 273 x 118.5 mm, which would make it much larger than the Switch or Switch OLED (curr. $349 on Amazon). To that end, the new console should contain larger ZL and ZR buttons than its predecessor, albeit without weighing any more than the Steam Deck. Moreover, the Switch 2 appears to feature a U-shaped kickstand, which would be a major departure from first-generation consoles.
Meanwhile, the new Joy-Cons will magnetically attach to the console, although there will also be rear-mounted release buttons in place. Based on the images that have leaked so far, Nintendo has moved their battery indicators to show battery and player status when used in accessories like a racing wheel or an ergonomic controller.
On top of that, Deck Wizard reiterates that Nintendo will officially present the Switch 2 next month. Specifically, the account suggests that the announcement could occur before Donkey Kong HD arrives, which is scheduled for January 16. Furthermore, Deck Wizard suggests that the Switch 2 will be capable of playing 'modern AAA' games, which ties in with an earlier report that we have covered separately.
