Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been out and about on PC for a little over a week now. While the game looks absolutely stunning, it is a massive VRAM hog due to integrated ray tracing and path tracing built into idtech 7. The game will look even better now, thanks to a new patch. Titled Update 2, brings a bunch of performance improvements to PC.
- Fixed an issue where Nvidia DLSS may cause performance problems when enabled.
- Fixed an issue where Nvidia Frame Generation wasn't activated properly if HDR is in use.
- Fixed an issue where Nvidia Low Latency Mode could cause performance problems when used with Frame Generation.
- Fixed an issue where global illumination may be completely disabled when playing with below minimum VRAM graphics cards.
- Fixed an issue where Lighting may be over bright in interior spaces if Path Tracing (Full Ray Tracing) is set to Medium or High Quality.
- Known Issue: Nvidia Frame Generation may be temporarily disabled if HDR is activated for the first time. To work around this issue, disable and then re-enable DLSS. This only needs to be done once.
The Global Illumination fixes mentioned above also carry over to the Xbox Series X|S consoles. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Update 2 also addressed some problems with the game's story mode, specifically ones that could lock progression due to an NPC not performing telegraphed actions. Lastly, it ensures your save files are not longer rendered unplayable and quashes a few minor bugs. The update can be downloaded immediately on PC and Xbox.
In our review, we thoroughly enjoyed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle thanks to its perfect balance between stealth, combat, puzzles and aesthetics. The level design is immaculate and each location is handcrafted with meticulous detail. It is undoubtedly one of the most fun games launched in 2024 and we recommend that you give it a try at least once.
