The rumor mill concerning Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 gaming console has been rather busy at work, with fresh new information leaking into the interwebs almost every week. Just recently, a Redditor who goes by the username NextHandheld, claimed to have witnessed and physically held the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and unsurprisingly, they revealed some interesting details from their experience.
First, the good news: it was revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will arrive next month, and feature hall-effect Joy-Cons that attach magnetically. Sadly, however, the game console will drop with an LCD panel instead of the previously rumored OLED, which is surely a huge dismay for those who were holding out for it. Now, NextHandheld has revealed yet another detail regarding the device, and a rather disappointing one - it will be limited to 4K at 30 FPS when used with the dock.
Needless to say, this development is most certainly a major bummer for many people. As The Verge reveals, NextHandheld has disclosed that the Switch 2 and the dock will be rated for 60 watts and 45 watts respectively - both numbers considerably loftier than its forerunner. The Switch 2 is undoubtedly positioned to be far superior in terms of performance, but apparently not quite enough to pull off 4K at 60 FPS. Considering Nintendo's track record of lengthy generational gaps, not having 4K60 support will be a major disadvantage in the coming years.
That being said, as with all leaks and rumors, be sure to accept this information with a healthy dose of skepticism, even though NextHandheld's source material has been verified by moderators as well as by The Verge, who claimed to have viewed images shared by NextHandheld. Either way, with the Switch 2's launch being closer than ever, the wait for its official confirmation won't be long.
