8 GB no more: Samsung Galaxy S25 tipped to arrive with at least 12 GB RAM at launch

With the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra slated to drop on January 22, multiple Geekbench listings of all three devices have surfaced at different points. The one common theme among them is the presence of at least 12 GB of RAM across all three devices. Noted X leaker Abhishek Yadav says Samsung will finally sunset 8 GB variants this time.

He adds the memory will also get a bump to 256 GB on all three Galaxy S25 devices- a much-needed, long-overdue update for a phone that is meant to last you seven upgrade cycles. Adding a 1 TB variant for all three phones would be nice, but there has been no indication that will happen just yet. Whether or not this will result in a corresponding price increase remains to be see. A recent leak suggests we might not have to worry about that.

Samsung's decision to bump up the RAM on the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra isn't altruistic. Galaxy AI, like any other AI-based solution, is notoriously memory-heavy. While 8 GB might be fine today, we can't say the same a year or two from now. Apple learned that the hard way with Apple Intelligence and gave all of its laptops/tablets a free RAM boost; even some old ones.
