Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra receives innovative camera mode via update

Samsung's innovative Ocean Mode was originally developed for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but was not made available to the general public at the time. This only changed with the Galaxy S26 Ultra ($1,299 on Amazon) as Samsung's current flagship can access Ocean Mode via the Expert RAW app.
Now the mode is finally coming to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, as Sammobile reports, Samsung is adding the feature to Expert RAW 5.0.08.2, a version that is currently only available for the latest beta of One UI 8.5. It remains to be seen whether the feature will also be made available to users of the Galaxy S24 Ultra in the future, but since Ocean Mode was originally developed for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, it should at least be technically possible.
With Ocean Mode, even users who know little about underwater photography should be able to take high-quality photos below sea level. The software corrects colors, white balance, motion blur, contrast and distortion to give images a look more reminiscent of a professional underwater camera kit than a smartphone.
An interval mode automatically records a photo every two, five or ten seconds. Ocean Mode was originally developed to help researchers document and protect coral reefs by merging thousands of photos of a reef into a 3D model later on. This feature was not originally intended for the public, but with the launch of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung has apparently changed its mind about a wider release.
