Samsung debuts the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition with a slim design and 200 MP camera
Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold6 globally a few months ago as its main flagship foldable for the year. The company is back with a new premium foldable, however, with the debut of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold6 (buy on Amazon), the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition appears to be exclusive to Samsung's home market of South Korea. The Z Fold Special Edition's selling point is its slim design, with a thickness of 10.6 mm and weight of 236g. Those figures make it 1.5 mm thinner and 3g lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold6 sold across the globe. Slim margins.
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition also gets a camera upgrade over the Z Fold6, as it manages to fit in a 200 MP main camera within its slim frame. That's presumably the same sensor on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and an improvement on the Z Fold6's 50 MP snapper. The other cameras are the same as on the Z Fold6, however: a 10 MP zoom shooter, a 12 MP ultra-wide angle camera, a 10 MP selfie camera, and a 4 MP under-display cover camera. 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB come as standard.
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, is billed to go on sale in Korea on October 25. MSRP is pegged at 2,789,600 KRW, which is a notable premium on a similarly equipped Z Fold6 (2,242,000 KRW).
