Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition may miss out on UDC tech to minimise display crease visibility
Samsung has now started officially teasing what appears to be the release of the long-awaited Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition. Unsurprisingly, leakers continue to speculate on the features of the device, even after much of its hardware has already been revealed in a series of leaks in the last few months.
This time, @TheGalox_ and @UniverseIce have made a rather large claim when it comes to the device's internal camera. For context, Samsung has used the Galaxy Z Fold to showcase Under-Display Camera (UDC) from the Galaxy Z Fold3 (curr. $439 - renewed on Amazon) onwards. This has also meant that Samsung has installed the same 4 MP camera in every Galaxy Z Fold released since though, including the Galaxy Z Fold6.
Additionally, there have been rumours that Samsung will use the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition to debut a new 5 MP internal camera and Ultra Flexible Glass (UFG). For reference, the latter is slated to replace Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) to minimise the device's display crease. However, it seems that this camera upgrade and foldable glass upgrade could come at the cost of UDC technology.
As a result, @TheGalox_ and @UniverseIce now believe that the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition will be the first in the series since the Galaxy Z Fold2 to launch with a conventional hole punch camera within its large foldable display. Currently, Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition in China and South Korea on October 21.
