Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition hands-on footage demonstrates long-awaited form factor changes
The dust has barely settled on Samsung's new foldable release. Nonetheless, various sources have already provided hands-on looks at the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Ultimately, the Special Edition is much closer in design to the Galaxy Z Fold6 than pre-release leaks suggested.
Still, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is noticeably taller and wider than its sixth-generation sibling. Moreover, the former makes the latter look rather thick and cumbersome, even if there is less than a 20% difference in thickness when both devices are open or closed.
With that being said, the pair's overall footprints will likely be similar on account of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition's wider and taller body. Just as importantly, it seems that the Special Edition has a less pronounced display crease than recent Galaxy Z Fold models.
Overall, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition contains many advantages for those looking for a wider and thinner foldable than the Galaxy Z Fold6 (curr. $1,249.99 - renewed on Amazon). Unfortunately, although the Special Edition may lay the groundwork for the Galaxy Z Fold7, it is only expected to reach one other market for now in its current guise.
