Samsung has finally replaced the Galaxy Z Fold5 (curr. $1,799.99 on Amazon), just under a year after it released its fifth-generation foldable. Ultimately, the volume of Galaxy Z Fold6-related leaks that surfaced in the last few weeks has left Samsung with little to actually announce. For example, not only has the new foldable been pictured numerous times, but it has also had its product page and a detailed spec sheet leaked online.
As expected, the Galaxy Z Fold6 is marginally more compact than its predecessor. Specifically, the new model weighs 239 g while measuring 153.5 x 68.1 x 12.1 when closed or 153.5 x 132.6 x 5.6 mm in its open state. In other words, although the Galaxy Z Fold6 is thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold5, it cannot surpass many of its competitors in the height or weight department.
Moreover, this year's Galaxy Z Fold retains comparatively narrow displays that span 6.3-inches on its outside and 7.6-inches on its inside. For reference, while both deliver 120 Hz refresh rates, the former outputs at 2,376 x 968 pixels compared to 2,160 x 1,865 pixels for the latter. On top of that, the Galaxy Z Fold line still features a 4,400 mAh battery that tops out at 25 W wired charging.
Likewise, the Galaxy Z Fold6 carries over its predecessor's camera system, unlike the Galaxy Z Flip6 that Samsung has also announced today. Elsewhere, Samsung is now offering IP48 certification for its foldable devices, which is up from IPX8 in last year's models. Moreover, the company claims that it will provide seven years of Android and security updates from Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1 onwards. Also, while pre-orders have opened today, general sales will not start until July 24. Full Galaxy Z Fold6 pricing is as follows:
- 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage - €1,999
- 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage - €2,199
- 12 GB RAM/1 TB storage - €2,359
