Galaxy Z Flip6: Leaked specifications confirm no Samsung DeX support again for new Galaxy Z Flip foldable
Earlier today, Evan Blass leaked full specifications for the Galaxy Z Flip6, which it delivered simultaneously alongside an equivalent leak relating to the Galaxy Z Fold6. As we have discussed separately, it seems that Samsung has a few surprises in store for its Galaxy Z Flip5 (curr. $849.99 on Amazon) successor. For example, the leak specification sheet suggests a significant cover display downgrade, which earlier leaks had not revealed.
Also, while Samsung does not confirm what chipsets its smartphones use in its official specifications, the details listed beside its 'processor' section imply that the Galaxy Z Flip will move up to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform for its sixth generation model. Specifically, the Galaxy Z Flip6 will feature the same 'for Galaxy' variant as the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold6, which introduces various performance and efficiency improvements over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy that powers all flagships that Samsung released in 2023.
As such, one would expect the Galaxy Z Flip6 to match the features that its larger Galaxy S and Galaxy Z counterparts do. To that end, Samsung has equipped this year's Galaxy Z Flip with a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, likely the one that XDA Developers verified delivering up to 1.7 Gbps read speeds in the Galaxy Z Flip5. Nonetheless, Blass' leaked specification sheet confirms that the Galaxy Z Flip6 will miss out on Samsung DeX support, just like its predecessor and all other Galaxy Z Flip models. At this stage, it seems that Samsung is leveraging DeX support to distinguish the Galaxy Z Flip6 from the more expensive Galaxy Z Fold6, despite the former likely retailing for more than the Galaxy S24, which also supports Samsung DeX functionality.
