The launch of the Vivo X200 and Vivo X200 Pro are still months away. Regardless, typically reliable leakers have revealed early details about both smartphones with a focus on display upgrades this time around.

In recent years, Vivo has focused on distinguishing its X smartphone series by its camera capabilities, whether that be the X100 Pro (curr. $925 on Amazon) or the newer X100 Ultra. While the former shined in our review, the X100 Pro remains a left-field option in the flagship smartphone market, particularly outside China. Nonetheless, those who have reviewed recent Vivo X series smartphones often remark that they deliver superior HDR processing than their competitors, even those from Apple, Google or Samsung.

According to Digital Chat Station, Vivo will take a slightly different approach for the forthcoming X200 series, which is expected to begin in Q4 2024. Please note that this launch window will likely only apply to China where Vivo typically releases flagships first. In comparison, X200 series smartphones may not be available elsewhere until early 2025. Based on previous rumours, Vivo will continue to leverage its MediaTek partnerships for the X200 series, with the X200 Pro potentially serving as the showcase for the Dimensity 9400, MediaTek's answer to Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Reportedly, the X200 Pro is set to launch later this year in China with a 'micro-curved screen', which features a subtle curvature across all four sides. Moreover, Digital Chat Station alleges that the same display will span a typical 6.7-inches while outputting at 1.5K and relying upon AMOLED technology. By contrast, Vivo is expected to equip the cheaper X200 with a smaller 6.4~6.5-inch display, which will also be a 1.5K AMOLED panel.

Meanwhile, Kartikey Singh adds that X100 successors may adopt optical fingerprint scanners this time around. However, not only has the leaker not provided any evidence that demonstrates this claim, but Digital Chat Station refutes this. Thus, we would recommend exercising some scepticism about this claim for now.
