According to new reports, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is set to fall short of iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro models in the display department. While Apple and Google's latest high-end smartphones utilise Samsung's new M14 AMOLED panel, rumoured cost-cutting at Samsung will mean that even the Galaxy S25 Ultra is left utilising the older and less efficient M13 panel.

The pieces of the Galaxy S25 series puzzle are falling into place months before Samsung is expected to replace the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra (curr. $894.82 on Amazon) with successors. For reference, a well-regarded leaker recently shared what he claims are the final nine colours in which this year's Galaxy S flagships will be available.

Now, several sources are reporting that the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra will miss out on in-house M14 AMOLED panel technology. Incidentally, Samsung already supplies these panels to Apple and Google for their iPhone 16 and Pixel 9 series 'Pro' smartphones. Allegedly, Samsung had considered showcasing its latest panel technology in next year's flagships, which is said to be 20-30% more efficient than its M13 predecessor while also offering up to 20% longevity.

However, rumoured poor Exynos 2500 yields have forced Samsung to adopt the more expensive Snapdragon 8 Elite across the entire Galaxy S25 series globally. Consequently, the likes of ETNews and Ross Young report that Samsung has opted for the cheaper M13, which underpins the current Galaxy S24 series. Nonetheless, the likes of Ice Universe believe that the Galaxy S25 Ultra should have a brighter display with improved colour accuracy and viewing angle stability compared to its predecessor. Thus, there could be some display improvements headed the way of the Galaxy S25 series, albeit not through a full panel upgrade.
