Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim to face off against iPhone 17 Slim in experimental new line-up
We are often said to be in a 'peak smartphone' era, which can be taken to mean that new handsets are at a stage at which there are few truly substantial design upgrades left to be made and, thus, increasingly look largely the same. That might be why Apple is now believed to finally go for a new frontier of device appearance with the introduction of the iPhone Air as part of the 17 series.
Samsung might not let the Cupertino giant get ahead of it, though, with the launch of an alleged Galaxy S25 Slim alongside other more predictable flagship smartphone variants such as the Ultra next year. It may or may not replace the Galaxy S25 FE in the launch calendar, thereby possibly pre-empting the iPhone 17 Air onto the market.
On that note, the "S25 Slim" is thought to be even more of a special edition than the newer version of the Z Fold6, in that it might be available in very limited quantities.
That move is thought to help the company find out for sure whether there really is a demand for thinner devices before applying its industrial design upgrades to the equivalent of the Galaxy S26 the year after next.
