Samsung Galaxy S25 model tipped to launch with probable MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset
Plenty has been said about Samsung adopting MediaTek chipsets in recent weeks, although nothing is official just yet. Instead, it seems that speculation was initially prompted by the release of the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra with Dimensity 9300 Plus chipsets, which represents a first for the series.
Following that, a Google DeepMind post implied that this decision could extend to Samsung's smartphone division, which has since been refuted. Similarly, Morgan Stanley market analysts are now reported to have issued a report dismissing the notion of a Dimensity 9400-powered Samsung handset from being released next year. While this is also alleged to extend to Honor, we cannot find evidence of this yet, nor has our source provided a link to said report.
Nonetheless, rumours continue to swirl about Samsung integrating Dimensity chipsets within the Galaxy S25 series. Allegedly, negotiations between Samsung and MediaTek originally centred around including an unnamed Dimensity chipset inside the base Galaxy S25. However, Samsung is said to have now settled on Snapdragon exclusivity for its next compact flagship, which may also extend to the larger Galaxy S25 Plus.
Instead, MediaTek now hopes Samsung can accommodate its Dimensity platform inside the Galaxy S25 FE rather than the twin Exynos and Snapdragon strategy employed in this year's Galaxy S24 FE (curr. $649.99 on Amazon). Presumably, the chipset in question will be the Dimensity 9400 rather than anything newer or older. While a Galaxy S25 FE launch date remains unknown for now, the suggestion that it could feature a Dimensity chipset implies that it will debut alongside new flagship Galaxy Tab S tablet releases.
