Samsung Galaxy S24 FE receives October 2024 security patch following recent critical Galaxy bug
Following serious recent issues that affected several Samsung Galaxy models, including the Galaxy S10 and Note10 series - where a SmartThings Framework update left phones stuck in a boot loop - Samsung is rolling out a fresh update to step up security and stability for its devices. The first one in the list seems to be the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (currently $649.99 on Amazon). The aforementioned software error caused many devices to become unusable, leading to data loss concerns and 2FA access problems.
Samsung appears to have taken quick action by releasing the October 2024 security patch, even before Google pushed the update out to its own Pixel devices. The update, which has its rollout date marked as 4th October 2024 on the official Samsung website, includes One UI build version S721BXXS2AXI5 and upgrades system security, most likely addressing vulnerabilities in the OS.
Though specific details about the issues addressed in the patch are still unclear, Samsung is expected to release more information soon. At the time of writing, the update is rolling out to Galaxy S24 FE users in Asia and Africa (as per Android Trends), with a broader global rollout on the way.
To install the update, users can manually do so by navigating to Settings, heading to Software Update, and tapping 'Download and install'. Please note that it may be a while before the update gets pushed out to all regions.
